Step off the vehicle and into the long grass — the South Luangwa is where the walking safari was born.
Zambia wrote the book on walking safaris, and this valley is where it happened. On foot, with an armed scout and an expert guide, the bush rearranges itself: tracks, dung, birdsong and wind direction become the morning's headlines.
Walks are paced gently and shaped to the group. It is the closest thing a safari offers to reading the land in its own language.
